Who am I?
I am an information systems security engineer and if it's one thing I can't stand its blogs on the Internet that post documentation, but never cover the complete task or concept. The information is not always a one stop resource to solving a problem I may have and as a result I end up spending a lot of time browsing multiple different sites to find the solution (if there even is a solution). It was towards the end of 2008 that I was attempting to find documentation for a problem and as usual, the project was due the next day. I had found that everything on the topic I was searching for was just plain wrong or not covered in enough depth. I told myself that when I figured out how to fix my problem that I would purchase a domain and begin posting thorough documentation whenever I did something that wasn't considered the "norm".
Whats the concept?
The concept for this site is to be a knowledge dump, similar to Wikipedia, but with complete documentation. Each registered user will have the ability to create content via blog posts that get fed into the main feed. Posts made to this site will be monitored and checked for detail to ensure users visiting this site walk away with a solution.
Where did the name come from?
Dueyesterday.net was thought up in data center after a manager of mine came in late in the day and advised me that one of our recent projects would be due the next day and that it was technically due yesterday.
Whats the goal of the site?
My goal for this site is to host thorough documentation and not just snippets that provide no meaningful help. I want this site to not only be a reference for myself, but also for others looking to solve their problems. With enough luck and support the end result will be a site where users can post, view, and comment on others documentation. This site will not cover every IT issue out on the Internet today, but I hope it will help at least one person find a solution to their problems.
